Rock On.

In class, we've been working on a project called "Rock On." In this project we had to create a new band, and do alot of research.

In our first assignment we had to come up with a band name and a logo. The band name and logo cannot be already in use so we had to come up with names and look up in the internet if that name had not already been in use, then we had to look for images to make our band logo. Our second assignment consisted of the band biography. We had to give a brief story on how the band was formed and what type of music we played, later on we had to take a band picture. Next was our third assignment, we had to come up with a tour name and look for sponsors. On our fourth assignment we had to do a concert tour research on a band with out same genre, and on our fifth assignemt we had to make our own tour and look for venues, do research on that venue, plan a date and time when we would be playing, and look for a local band, which wasn't so hard but it took a while to be completed. Our sixth assignment was pretty easy to, we just had to research ticket prices and create a table which contained the date, artist, venue, and price values. The seventh assignment was kind of easy also, we had to look for tour buses and make it our own. We had to design it using fireworks, giving it our name, band logo, and tour name. The eighth assignement was pretty hard, we had to make a cd cover, it was kind of hard because we had to come up with a cover and all the images we found did'nt fit with our band until we found an almost perfect one. The ninth assignment was about making our concert poster. we had to create one using some of the tools in http://www.bighugelabs.com/, it was pretty easy. The tenth assignment was about the rock swag design. We had to get merchandise and put our band name on it. Our eleventh assignment was about looking for a stage design and editing it so it looked as if it was ours. On our twelveth assignment we had to create a backstage pass that contained our band name, and the tour name. This took a lot of reaserch but it was kind of fun.

From this project i learned that every business has to include the marketing mix in order to succeed. If they're not applied the business will probably not work.
In this project we applied some of the seven key functions. We used Promotion when we posted the poster. We used selling when we were selling CD's. We also used marketing information management when we gave the tour dates and places of our tours. We used product/service management also when we were looking and using items for our band.
This was a fun project but we had to deal with alot of research.

My Spring Break

My spring break was fun. The first four days i went shopping with my friends and to the movies. It was pretty fun, just walking around going from store to store buying stuff and sometimes even making fun of the people passing by. The rest of my break i stayed home helping my mom baby sit, listening to music and in the computer chatting with my friends from the other places i lived in. This spring break was pretty cool.

Commercials...

eTrade Super Bowl Commercial: Talking Baby Rents a Clown

On the E-trade commercial a baby was talking. It gave information about the service that it provided and at the end it showed us where to locate it, but it didnt show the price or promotion because it wasnt needed. I think that the 4 p's are important to make a buyer want a product or service and make them think they need it.

Hot Cheetos advertisement

The ads displays some of the 4P's. It used Price, and product, but it didnt show promotion and place because everyone already knows where to buy them and how much it costs so it wasn't needed.

Functions of Marketing

In order to make your own business you need to have and use the seven key functions which are Product-service management, Distribution, Selling, Marketing-information management, Financing, Pricing, and Promotion. Without these your business might not work and you would of had done all of that hard work for nothing.

-Product/service management is designing, developing, maintaining, improving, and acquiring products or services so they meet customers needs. Basicly it's just taking care of you products or services and satisfying the customer.
-You will need distribution to move your products or services to customers without tampering them or the customers won't like it and may return it.
-Selling includes direct and personal communication with customers to assess and satisfy their needs.
-Marketing-Information management is gathering and using information about customers to improve decision making.
-Financing requires a company not only to budget for it's own marketing activities, but alos to provide customers with assistance in paying the company's products or services.
-Pricing is the process of establishing and communicating the value or cost of goods and service to customers.
-Promotion is using advertising and other forms of communicating information about products services, images, and ideas to achieve a desired outcome.

From the superbowl, my favorite commercial was the Etrade commercial. There were talking babies giving information about the Etrade service, and it used the 4 P's. It was really funny

Distribution

Today we did a little activity where we had to distribute water and salt without combining them or messing them up and putting them in a little cup on the other side of the room. It was close to impossible because there was alot of people in the way and the water kept dripping and the place was crowded, but it was kind of fun.
